However, his breakthrough came with the film Carlos (2010), an Olivier Assayas miniseries in which he portrayed the infamous terrorist Ilich Ramírez Sánchez, also known as “Carlos the Jackal.” His performance earned critical acclaim, winning him a Golden Globe and a César Award, as well as an Emmy nomination.
